Active voice-la, you have a subject doing the action to the object. Passive voice-la, you make that object the subject. When there are two objects, usually the indirect object becomes the new subject. "I gave him the report" becomes "He was given the report by me."
You know, in my gym, I don't say "I'll give you a spot." I say, "You will be spotted." The focus should be on the person lifting, not on me. That's the whole point.
