Actually, to find the percentage error in density, you add the percentage errors in mass and volume. That’s what they taught us in theory. But in our college lab, if your equipment is as old as ours, that formula gives you nonsense—the error becomes so large your experiment is basically a guess. Just last week, my rusty balance and a chipped measuring cylinder made my density error shoot up to 15%!
