Ah, ba, those are two very different stories in our lungs, like the old tale of two brothers where one is quick and fiery, the other slow and stubborn. Small cell is that quick one, spreading fast from the start, while non-small cell grows more slowly but has many types. They behave differently because their very cells are not the same, like different seeds giving different trees.
In my reports, they found the EGFR mutation in my non-small cell. So for me, it's not about the old 'small cell is worse' story. Because of this genomic testing, I take a targeted tablet that simply blocks the cancer's signal, like turning off a faulty lamp. My life now is in those tiny details of the gene, not just the big name of the cancer.
