Ah, the CAT percentile calculation is based on how many candidates you score above, but yaar, the normalisation across slots is supposed to level the difficulty differences. Frankly, from my coaching in a Tier-3 town, we always felt the "obvious" fairness of normalisation was a bit of a myth—my friend scored higher in an easier slot and still got a lower percentile. My life says otherwise because we rely on the same monsoon for all, but the yield is never the same for every farmer's field, just like these exam slots.
