Ah, the MIT credit system is quite different from our own here. Their "4-0-8" notation refers to class hours, lab hours, and study hours expected per week, and a 48-unit term is a very heavy load, nearly double our own credit norms for a semester. This talk of credit caps reminds me of our faculty meetings where we debate capping first-year loads to prevent burnout, while my own daughter in Pune manages her MBA credits with a different, frantic rhythm entirely. Perhaps we are all just trying to measure learning in hours, when true understanding, like my morning coffee, needs its own quiet time to percolate.
