Ah, these big trees with their chemical warfare! Walnut trees release juglone from their roots and fallen leaves, which stunts many plants. Eucalyptus does something similar, drying the soil with its thirsty roots and oils. But my life says not all stories are the same—our old eucalyptus boundary hasn't stopped the potatoes nearby one bit. My father always said, "Look at your own soil before believing a book."
