Ah, to split the middle term when the leading coefficient isn't 1, you multiply it with the constant term and then find factors of that product which add to the middle coefficient. For 6x² + 5x - 6, that product is -36, and the pair that works is +9 and -4. You rewrite and group. But you know, chele, I have always found that students who only chase this "ac method" sometimes forget the simple factorisation check. My own son, during his apprenticeship, said mastering the basics on paper first was better than any shortcut—just like basting a stitch before the final seam. So I always start by asking them to look for a common factor and try simple combinations; it keeps the mind sharp.
