Ah, van't Hoff factor… we did that experiment just last month. For NaCl, it's nearly 2; glucose is 1; and for acetic acid, it's a bit more than 1 but less than 2. It's not a whole number because some compounds don't fully dissociate or associate in solution.
But I'll tell you, when we measured the freezing point of acetic acid, our value was all over the place! My lab partner, Shankar, kept saying "sari illa" because our old thermometer had a sticky thread—just like the one in my bathroom at home that I still haven't fixed. Theory is clean, but reality always has a little leak.
