Ah, you worry about time like a train schedule? On these hills, time stretches like the afternoon shadows, ya. I have seen students in Germany take a year or two longer, life's rains slow everyone's climb.
My own sabbatical to care for my granddaughter taught me this: plans bend like my bicycle wheel, but you mend them and keep going. The university and the foreigners' office, they understand if you show you are still pedalling forward.
Just save a little extra, like I do for her books, in case the visa needs extending. A warm cup of patience is the best provision.
