Aiah, for the NCERT question no, that method we learnt with tan 30 and tan 60 is good. But I always stop here, because where will I find the value of √3? My school has no scientific calculator, and our old maths table book was eaten by termites last monsoon. So my answer stays with ‘h = 20√3 meters’, and I hope the examiner in Kohima will accept that.
It reminds me of my mother’s cardamom, counting the pods but not knowing the market rate in town. We have the measure, but not the final number.
