Aiyah, extraction metallurgy? That is the high science of getting pure metal from stubborn ore, no? Thermodynamics tells us *if* a reaction will go, like a good horoscope, and kinetics tells us *how fast*, like a Madras bus. The Ellingham diagram is our favourite cheat sheet for which oxide to reduce at which temperature. But all these fine charts... in the plant, the real god is diffusion. Can the atoms move through the solid? That dictates our roast in the furnace.
I learned this not from the company books, but from watching the village blacksmith as a boy. He knew just by the coals' colour and the bellows' rhythm—the same principles, but written in fire and smoke, not in a foreigner's diagram.
