An ANA test measures autoantibodies, basically flags that your own immune system is attacking your body. The pattern and titer, like 1:1280 speckled, tell them *what* and *how fiercely* it's attacking. They say 1:80 is normal, but my report came back at 1:1280, and with this constant joint pain and fatigue, I can tell you my body doesn't feel "normal" at all. It's not just a number on a page when you're the one who needs a ten-minute break after climbing the stairs to our flat.
