Arre, for nitrogen at 300K, the rms speed is about 517 m/s, average is 477 m/s, and most probable is 422 m/s. For calculations in kinetic theory, like pressure, you actually need the rms speed, yaar. But this most probable speed... it reminds me of the one stubborn customer who is always most likely to show up exactly at lunchtime, disturbing my perfectly timed roti break. So in my shop life, it’s the 'most probable' that truly matters, not the rms!
