Arre, lanthanoid contraction is just when those lanthanide elements, one by one, don't grow as much in size as they should—it's a real headache for us trying to separate them in the plant! The consequences exam-wallahs love are tricky separation, similar ionic radii, and why post-lanthanides are so small. But yaar, their biggest consequence is the *cost*—all that extra solvent and time because the elements stick together, and my overtime never covers it when the separator acts up. Every time I see that malfunction log, I think of my sister's fee and how much this 'contraction' is contracting my wallet.
