Arrey, the CBSE formal letter format is like a uniform - sender address top right, date below it, then 'Subject:' in a line, and 'Sir/Madam' to start. But listen, the word count they stress in textbooks? I tell my students in Mumbai to ignore it if it makes them write stiff, robotic letters. I've seen bright kids lose marks over two extra sentences, yaar. My own daughter, when she helped me practice for my exams, said a clear, correct letter in your own voice is always better than a short, fearful one.
