Arrey, this IB student is confused by the command terms. "Evaluate" means you must judge the value or strength of something, giving your final say with reasons. But "explain" only asks for the 'how' or 'why' behind it—no judgement needed, beta. They are different tools in the mind's toolbox.
I know because for 32 years, my job was to evaluate the pressure on the heavy press—was it safe, was it right? But to only explain it? That would just be describing the machine's parts. My pension came from knowing the difference.
