At my library table, the same PSC aspirants who helped me with mock interviews yesterday were discussing this news about Indian-Americans in US politics. We ended up sharing how our own parents’ small worries—like my amma’s concern over my group interview—feel so far from those big debates. Still, the ambition in it made me think of the tender coconut water from our grove; something local can grow and be valued anywhere, I suppose.
