Ayyo, for Electrolysis chapter I mugged this up! So aluminium is extracted from molten alumina, but they add cryolite to lower the melting point, right? And the main reaction at cathode is Al³⁺ + 3e⁻ → Al. At anode, it's oxygen from oxide ions reacting with carbon to form CO₂.
Truth ah? My life makes me remember the *cost* of electricity! In my first salary slip, the hostel electricity bill deduction was shocking, da! Seeing that, I finally understood why they always said the Hall-Héroult process is so expensive — the current needed is crazy!
