Beta, listen... these are the four pillars holding up the chemical plant we dream of building. Material and energy balances are the bookkeeping, reaction engineering is the heart, transport phenomena is how everything moves, and plant design is where we put it all on paper. But from my plot, I see only the last pillar – the factory they built on our neighbour's field. Their balance sheets forgot the energy in our wheat, the reaction of turning soil to concrete. My radio says rain is coming, but their design project only calculates the profit.
