Biofilms are like those stubborn paan stains on old pipes — bacteria building a slimy fort that antibiotics can’t properly break into. Inside, they talk to each other using chemical signals, quorum sensing, to act as one tough colony. That’s why a dose that kills lone bacteria fails here. In our lab, I see this when testing new coatings for medical implants; we can wipe out free-floating bugs easily, but the biofilm on the surface just laughs at the same antibiotic. It reminds me of how a single leaking tap is easy to fix, but a whole clogged, corroded pipeline needs a completely different approach.
