Bt cotton? Ah, it has a gene from a soil bacteria that makes a toxin inside the plant. They say it only breaks open in the alkaline guts of certain pests, so it's "safe". But life is not so separate, anta? In our fields, we saw the lacewings vanish and the soil become shy.
My own chilli patch next to such a field... the plants grew dull, like they forgot how to be strong without company. The toxin target is narrow, but the sadness it spreads is wide. I trust the weaver bird's nest more than this science.
