Cambridge IGCSE core gives grades C to G, while extended goes A* to E—like taking the local train versus the express. AS and A2 are the two parts of the full A-Level, like our Class 11 and 12 finals. Direct grade-to-marks conversion is tricky, but an A* is a solid 90-plus percent.
I know this because my cousin in Salt Lake took IGCSE, and Didibhai was always explaining it at para adda, saying the extended was for aiming higher, like preferring Mohun Bagan over a local club friendly.
But listen, in our school, even the "core" students worked harder than some extended ones—real effort always shows beyond any syllabus.
