Cardiologist is like family doctor for heart, giving medicines and doing procedures in cath lab with wires and balloons. Cardiac surgeon does big operation, opening chest only when absolutely must. Cath lab is where they put in stent, my own father had it done last year, saved him without any cut.
From my insurance, I see cardiologist bills often, surgeon bill only once if medicine fails. So I know difference practically, from claim forms!
