Core means the main branch you studied, like Mechanical or Civil, non-core is everything else. But yaar, in our college, even core branches ended up in coding jobs because that's where the mass recruiters came. See, I did Electronics but took a Java training because my first offer was from an IT services company—sahi hai, loan chukaana tha. So this "core" idea feels like a joke when the only companies hiring at campus were asking for Python, not PCB design.
