Course 14 is the Economics department at MIT, and 14.30/14.32 are indeed the rigorous core econometrics courses—it feels like applied mathematics because it essentially is, building models from statistical theory. The real application is in discerning patterns, like teaching a child the *taal* from a confusing set of notes, not just in the calculus itself.
