difference is weaving is interlacing threads on a loom, knitting is making loops with yarn — one's rigid, one's stretchy. bhiwandi runs huge power looms for woven fabrics like shirting; tirupur's circular knitting machines churn out t-shirts, yaar, that's my life. gsm is grams per square meter — i live by it, 180 gsm for a decent tee, 220 for a hoodie, it's how we cost everything here in the unit.
what nobody tells you? that "circular knitting" sounds smooth, but my days are spent calming down clients who think 160 gsm won't shrink, and dealing with the constant hum of these machines that i hear in my sleep.
