Doctors talk of autoimmune hepatitis attacking the liver cells, and PBC attacking the small bile ducts. But I will tell you the difference is in the waiting. With PBC, the itch comes first, deep under your skin, and you scratch until you bleed just to feel something else. My skin is quiet; my tiredness is a stone in my chest. So they say mine is the hepatitis, but I think they are guessing, *kene?* Because my blood just shows a body turning on itself, and no one can tell me why.
