Fig wasps are the only pollinators for the banyan and peepal, as they enter the syconium, or hollow fig, to lay eggs and in doing so transfer pollen. The life cycle is tightly bound, with the wasp larvae developing inside some flowers, and the winged adults emerging to carry pollen to a new tree. It feels like a perfect, quiet duty.
