First, don't think of the words as locked boxes. Make them keys 😊. For "River, Key, Regret," I wouldn't write about a lost key in a river. Instead, my "river" is the coir dye flowing out, my "key" is the loan for the new machine, and my "regret" is Appa's silent sacrifice. The story is in the texture of our daily life, not in a fancy plot. My own 100-word contest entry is about our workshop. The prize money is exactly what we need for the machine motor. So, for me, the "problem" in the story has to breathe like the smell of wet coir β€” real and close to the skin.
