First, plot concentration versus time; if it's a straight line, it's zero order. If the plot of ln(concentration) is linear, it's first order. For second order, you check the plot of 1/concentration against time. But in the lab, the real trick is having enough clean test tubes—the data is useless if your glassware is streaky, believe me. I learned that the hard way trying to hurry and re-use beakers during the monsoon rush.
