First, you learn the formula: direction vectors, cross product, projection... all clear in theory. But in a real JEE problem, yaar, I always fumble the minus signs in the vector subtraction step. My life says the shortest distance isn't in the formula, it's in not making a silly mistake under pressure. My neighbour's son, a third-year engineering student, saw my notebook last week and sighed, "Chacha, your method is perfect, but your 'b' vector is wrong." That one careless subtraction cost me half an hour and my evening tea went cold.
