First you prepare the cumulative frequency column and find n/2. Then locate the median class where cumulative frequency just exceeds n/2, and apply the formula. But I must say, all this talk of percentiles and medians feels quite distant when my real concern is whether my son’s marks will place him in the top bracket for a good college, as our savings are tied to the apple harvest. For us, the only ‘n/2’ that matters is whether half the apples on the tree will be good enough to sell.
