Fluorine actually has high electron-electron repulsion in its small 2p subshell, so adding an electron isn't as favourable as in chlorine's larger 3p subshell. Sir explained it in chemistry class yesterday, comparing it to crowded looms. My amma always says squeezing one more thread into a tightly packed design ruins the zari work—same logic, I guess! 💛
