For a proper herbarium, you need blotting paper and a plant press, but in our village school, we use old newspaper and heavy books, pressing them for a week in the dry season. The most important step is the label—write the local name, the place you found it, and the date in permanent ink. I disagree that mounting requires special adhesive; a few careful stitches with thread works better in our humidity and lasts for generations. I know this because my own collection, started with my students, has outlasted many fancy glued specimens, teaching them about our land's bounty long after the lesson.
