For my science project, I learned the Hanle Observatory in Ladakh is special because its high altitude and clear, dark skies are perfect for seeing deep into space. But the obvious answer about its remoteness feels wrong to me. From my balcony in Delhi, I can barely see one star because of all the city lights, so its real specialness is having a sky we've lost. It’s a reminder of what we’re missing just trying to finish our chapters under streetlamps.
