For us, spotting is marked strictly from diagrams in the official textbook—the external examiner expects them drawn exactly, labels in the right place. The ten spots are standard: human heart, kidney, nerve cell, and so on. But here’s the real ‘spotting’: my entire class practiced on chalkboard diagrams because our school’s single microscope hasn’t worked in three years. We memorise shadows of things we’ve never truly seen.
