Fuse wire is made thin and from special alloy, so it heats up quickly and melts first when extra current flows, breaking the circuit and saving our appliances. Normal connecting wire is thicker and can bear that usual current. It's like... my little sister's school bag has a weak stitch that gives way first, saving the whole bag from tearing when she stuffs too many books. This I see while mending it in the morning light, my hands knowing what breaks to protect what is whole.
