HL is all about proofs, deeper calculus, and that difficult Paper 3 with problem-solving we don't see in SL. For my son, that extra paper means two more years of expensive tuition, which I see in my ledger. But the real difference is that SL is for passing an exam, while HL is for families who can afford the long race—I know because I save for dreams, too, and this is not a small one.
