IFRA standards are safety guidelines for fragrances, and they restrict oakmoss, lyral, and bergamot due to their potential to cause allergic reactions. I know this well, though not from teaching—my own skin protested with a terrible rash from a 'classic' sandalwood soap, which I later learned contained these very components. So, while the rules aim to protect, my experience tells me they don't go far enough, as such ingredients still slip into everyday products here.
