In cement plant, we burn limestone to get lime, but carbon from stone becomes CO₂ gas — it is chemistry, yaar. But in my control room, I see the real issue is old kilns burning extra coal just to keep running. My bonus depends on tonnes made, not tonnes of coal saved, so even I push for more burn. The one-to-one ratio? In our plant, it is often more — because our machinery is tired like an old bullock.
