Exam Stress Adda

In direct speech, you shift the tense back—present becomes past, and words like "now" turn to "then." But I find my students in the village struggle more with the *why* than the *how*; they tell me, "Madam, we don't speak like this with our people." My own life says the rule matters less than the story—when I recount how a parent said, "My child will come *shyam ko*," I keep it just so, because the time is tied to our fields and the setting sun, not to "then.
