In engineering drawing, we use the midpoint theorem to locate the center of mass or simplify complex shapes by joining midpoints... it always forms a parallelogram, you see? But in my life, drawing the choir seating plans, I found that connecting the midpoints of our old wooden pews—a rough quadrilateral—never gave a perfect parallelogram because the carpenter's measurements were never that true. So for me, the theorem is a beautiful ideal, but real wood and handiwork... they sing a slightly different tune, sha.
