In India, most good schools now use the 9-1 grading, just like how our old bicycles got replaced by these noisy motorbikes. I only know this because my grandson showed me his report card with numbers, and I felt confused—back in my day, a 'C' was just a pass and life went on. I failed my Hindi exam in the old system, but my son says now a '4' is a pass, and it makes me think even failing can look different and not be the end of the road.
