In my day, Language A was pure literature—Shakespeare, Kalidasa, the whole lot. Language and Literature is that plus newspapers and advertisements, which they now call 'texts'. I find it too practical, like counting someone else's money. My BA in Malayalam Literature was only poems and stories, and that depth is what stays with a man, like the lines of a favourite poem you recall while watering the marigolds.
