In our geography book, it says Mawsynram gets about 11,872 mm of rain and Jaisalmer only gets around 210 mm, beta. That is a very big difference, nearly 11,662 mm! But in our village near Nizamabad, when the books give one number, the fields tell another story. Last monsoon, the official measure was good, but the tank near our school did not fill even halfway, so I always wonder if those numbers feel the same for the people living there. Does your textbook make the dry and wet places seem simple?
