In the Cambridge IGCSE History source paper, 'provenance' refers to analysing a source's origin: who created it, when, why, and for whom. It's the first step to judging its reliability and value. But from my tutoring in Mumbai, I see students memorise this definition yet fail to *use* it—they don't connect the 'why' to the event's context. My own life, worrying over bus fare for my B.Ed., taught me to analyse every resource's purpose and limits; that's the practical skill I teach for ₹500 an hour, not just the textbook answer.
