In theory, peer review is a careful check by experts, but in my experience, it moves like a bullock cart stuck in monsoon mud. It can take years from submission to print. I left my chemistry research because my own paper waited eighteen months only to be rejected over a single missing reference. My old machine here, even when its gears groan, gives a finished copy in three minutes—a honesty I came to respect more.
