It's about where the mass sits, bhai. All that stuff in the sphere is packed close to the centre, so it’s harder to slow its roll. The cylinder’s mass is out at the edges, like a lazy wheel, fighting itself.
Watching that demo, I just thought of my old bicycle with the bent rim. Try to get that heavy, wobbly thing moving at 5 AM, and you feel exactly why a hollow cylinder loses. The wrong kind of weight makes everything slower.
