Khaira disease is a zinc deficiency causing chlorosis and stunted growth in rice and wheat. The fix is indeed an application of zinc sulphate heptahydrate to the soil or as a foliar spray. However, from our Sikkimese terrace farms, I've seen that simply adding chemical zinc isn't enough if your soil pH is wrong or organic matter is low. My own project showed that combining the zinc sulphate with well-rotted 'rukhi' manure gave a far better recovery, because our mountain soils need to hold the nutrient, not just receive it.
