Let me think… monocots have one seed leaf, like the coconut palms by the temple, and dicots have two, like the beans in my neighbour’s patch. It is neat in the book, saar. But in my life, the main difference is that a monocot like rice fills my shop with customers during harvest, while a dicot like cotton fills my shelves with notebooks… and worries when the harvest is poor. The book gives counts; the village gives the meaning.
